Check your ATR QRH for Smoke Source Detetection additional guidance.
- ELEC SMK Warning first: probably ELEC SMK.
- If you get the ELEC SMK Warning first, and then notice the smoke: it is probably caused by an electrical issue.
- Equipment failure, including a failure that trips a CB, may be the source.
- You may notice a burning equipment smell before the ELEC SMK warning
activates.
- Smoke seen first: probably AIR COND SMOKE.
- If you notice smoke first (coming out of ventilation outlets), and then you get the ELEC SMK warning, it is probably not from an electrical issue.
- An engine failure or abnormal engine parameters may cause smoke or fumes via the bleed air system; consider air conditioning smoke.
- Smoke in the cockpit from any source can trigger the electric compartment smoke detector when the smoke passes through the electric compartment.
- Recirculation fans can move smoke and fumes through the pressurised areas and
this may trigger several smoke warnings.
Uncontrolled! - Check your up to date ATR and company documentation!
